Twist and Tumble is owned and operated by Jamie Perkins and Kathryn McGinney. They live in the Washington Park neighborhood with their two young children, and are excited to build community in the city they love.
Twist and Tumble is Jamie’s longtime dream. Jamie started gymnastics as a preschooler and fell in love with the sport by age 3. She was a competitive artistic and acrobatic gymnast, and started coaching at age 14 in Fort Collins.
She has since coached at both competitive and recreational gyms in Portland and the Denver Metro area, with more than a decade of coaching experience, from toddlers through competitive teams. Some of her best friends to this day are the teammates she competed with, and the coaches she’s coached with.
Jamie’s big gymnastics passion is instilling a love of physical movement while building confidence and friendships.
A Note from Jamie and Kathryn
We’re so excited that you’re here! Twist and Tumble Kids Gymnastics is our family business, where we are just as excited about building community as we are teaching gymnastics (and we’re really excited about that!).
Owning a gym was Jamie’s quiet dream, and after we welcomed our first kiddo into our family, she began talking more and more about making it happen. Finally in 2023, we decided to go for it! We’ve built Twist and Tumble from a place of love, making decisions along the way influenced by being the parents of two young children.
What you’ll find at Twist and Tumble is that safety, community, encouragement, and inclusivity are woven into every decision we make. We create our own lesson plans each week to emphasize strong gymnastics foundations, so our gymnasts learn safe progressions, and feel the accomplishment of getting stronger and mastering new skills, while having fun. We believe in this growth mindset for ourselves and our coaches too, and we are constantly learning and teaching to become better coaches.
As parents, we know that this business has to serve parents too. We’ve designed our viewing area to be comfortable and welcoming, and you can see and hear all corners of the gym. We have tables to work from with free wifi, and an area for siblings to enjoy too.
